What was your previous position and where?Prior to LSU, I taught at the University of Arkansas, the University of North Carolina and the Free University of Berlin, where I completed my doctoral work.What brought you to LSU?In 1985, when I decided to stay in the United States, LSU offered a great opportunity to excel as a researcher in the field of statistics and operations management.What is your research interest?Over the past 34 years since I received my Ph.D. in operations management and statistics, my research areas have included stochastic inventory control, lifetime analysis and quality management. Currently, I am conducting research in safety analysis of automobile crashes.What do you hope to accomplish at LSU?My goal as the associate dean for research is to increase grant funding for the business college. My goal as the director of Highway Safety Reserach Group, or HSRG, is to make Louisiana’s roads and highways safer. As the chair of the ISDS department, my goal is to build a new Master of Science in Analytics program and a strong undergraduate program in business intelligence and information management.What do you enjoy most about LSU?I enjoy the diversity at LSU, which provides many opportunities for collaboration in research and teaching.What are your major accomplishments?During my time at LSU, I have served as the chair of the ISDS department, the associate dean for research and economic development and the director of the Highways safety Research Group. As the director of HSRG, I have built a research group that conducts research in the area of highway safety and provides information to the Louisiana DOTD, the state police and the legislators to pass new laws, change policies and plan projects affecting highway safety. As chair of the ISDS department, I led a successful undergraduate program and help to create a new Master of Science in Analytics program.
