What was your previous position and where? Before coming to LSU, I was a small animal surgery resident at Auburn University’s College of Veterinary Medicine. What brought you to LSU?I received my undergraduate and veterinary degrees from LSU and have always loved this school. When I came to interview for my current position, I was overwhelmed by the enthusiasm, collegiality and attitudes of the faculty members at the veterinary school. I thought this job would give me the perfect opportunity to combine my interests in surgery and research, as well as my love for teaching. What are your research interests? My research interests include tracheal collapse and tracheal stenting in dogs, as well as treatment of airway diseases such as laryngeal paralysis. I am also interested in veterinary education. What do you hope to accomplish at LSU?The companion animal surgery service at LSU has recently undergone some major changes with the addition of four relatively new faculty members. As part of this team of surgeons, I hope to provide the best surgical care for companion animals in Louisiana. I also hope to provide excellent classroom and clinic instruction to our veterinary students and house officers. What do you enjoy most about LSU?I enjoy the collegiality and interaction amongst the faculty members in my department. It’s fun to come to work every day and work with people I have so much respect for. The students here are so invested in their education. Many are realizing a life-long dream of becoming a veterinarian, and helping them achieve that goal is unbelievably fulfilling. What are your major accomplishments? My accomplishments include the teaching recognitions I have received since joining the LSU SVM and my three consecutive Resident of the Year awards presented to me during my residency by the senior veterinary students for my teaching efforts.
