Brooke Rollins

Assistant Professor
Department of English

What was your previous position and where?

I was a Ph.D. candidate in rhetoric at the University of South Carolina, in Columbia, S.C.

What brought you to LSU?

I completed my Ph.D. in 2007 and came to LSU to take my first academic job.

What is your research interest?

Classical rhetoric and critical theory: I use 20th century thinkers including Jacques Derrida and Michel Foucault to reread classical rhetorical texts by Plato, Aristotle and Isocrates.

What do you hope to accomplish at LSU?

I hope to help build our graduate program in rhetoric and composition into one of the strongest in the country.

What do you enjoy most about LSU?

My smart and interesting students.

What are your major accomplishments?

Iím proud of my recent publications in College English and Rhetoric Society Quarterly. And on the non-academic front: This year I won a poker tournament while on vacation in Las Vegas.
