LSU is an equal
LSU Today Flagship Faculty
What was your previous position and where? Before I came to LSU in 1986, I was an archivist in the United States Senate in Washington, D.C. My job was to oversee the transfer of congressional records from the offices of retiring senators to a university, historical society or state archives.
What brought you to LSU?The position of department head of the Louisiana and Lower Mississippi Valley Collections in the LSU Libraries was available. The LLMVC, as it is known, contains unique research materials about Louisiana and the lower Mississippi valley, including congressional records.
What is your research interest? Most recently, my research interest has been local Baton Rouge history. I am working on my fourth book about Baton Rouge. My most recent book is "The LSU Rural Life Museum and Windrush Gardens: A Living History."
What do you hope to accomplish at LSU?To continue working to make the research collections of the LSU Libraries available to all our students and faculty, as well as to introduce new users to the collections while helping to preserve them.
What do you enjoy most about LSU?I still learn something new every day.
What are your major accomplishments?Iíve made lots of friends and helped many students and faculty use the libraries over the years. Since 1986, Iíve been the principal investigator for a number of grants that have brought funding and recognition to the LSU Libraries. Iíve been the author of three books and the co-author of two others.
