What was your previous position and where?I was an associate professor and the JPMorgan Chase Professor of Finance at Ohio University.What brought you to LSU?Timing! I was visiting the University of Georgia when the LSU opportunity materialized. The financial crisis had just begun to unfold and the finance department at LSU was looking to add to its faculty individuals whose research interests were in the areas of banking and financial markets. It was a good fit!What is your research interest?My research interests are in banking and financial markets.What do you hope to accomplish at LSU?Contribute toward a better understanding of the functioning, or malfunctioning, of the financial system that can inform policy, engage actively in disseminating this knowledge beyond the academic sphere and inspire students to do more of the same by furthering their curiosity.What do you enjoy most about LSU?I enjoy coming to work every day to an intellectual environment that values and encourages examining challenging questions.What are your major accomplishments?I am most proud of the fact that I have students who take precious moments from their busy lives to inform me that they still respectfully challenge conventions and established paradigms in their own ways.
