What was your previous position and where?I was an assistant professor in the Department of Computer Science at Utah State University .
What brought you to LSU?The warm weather, the food and the potential of LSU as a top tier university .
What are your research interests?My research interests are diverse. I like solving hard problems that have practical relevance. I have done research on developing techniques for automatically finding bugs in programs, automatically recognizing human activities in a video stream, agile analytic systems, developing new foundations for execution models for extreme scale computing, automatic programming and distributed systems. I have received funding from diverse sources like the National Science Fourndation, or NSF; the Defense Advanced Research Projects Agency, or DARPA; the Department of Energy, the Army's Research, Development and Engineering Command, or RDECOM; the Office of Naval Research; state agencies; industry; etc. Currently, some of the research that I have done is finding applications in providing agro-intelligence.
What do you hope to accomplish at LSU?I hope to develop a world class education, research and innovation environment at LSU. I am entrepreneurial and enojy transitioning research to the real world.
What do you enjoy most about LSU?The beautiful campus, collegial colleagues, and innovative undergraduate and graduate students.
What are your major accomplishments?Some of the technologies that I have developed are in the process of being transitioned to the real world; and I won the Phi Kappa Phi award in 2011.
