LSU is an equal
LSU Today Flagship Faculty
What was your previous position and where?Prior to joining the Public Administration Institute, I was an assistant professor in the Department of Public Administration at the University of Kansas.
What brought you to LSU?I decided to accept a position at LSU for three primary reasons: first, the Public Administration Institute’s leadership and history of advancing the quality of public service in the state of Louisiana truly impressed me; second, I was confident in the university’s commitment to supporting faculty research efforts; and last, as a native of Baton Rouge, I valued the opportunity to give back to a local community that has played a great role in shaping my professional career.
What is your research interest?Overall, my research interests are in the areas of public sector employment and compensation. Over the past few years I have been conducting research on public/private pay comparability and public sector pension reform.
What do you hope to accomplish at LSU?My major goals are to further expand my existing research agenda and to develop new and innovative approaches to educating students in the Public Administration Institute.
What do you enjoy most about LSU?Although I have had many great experiences here at LSU, I really enjoy the energy and public service ethos of the students I work with.
What are your major accomplishments? In addition to having my research published in some of the leading journals in public administration, I consider it an accomplishment every time one of my students is successfully placed in a rewarding public service career.
