What was your previous position and where? Before coming to LSU, I was an assistant professor of business and economics at Wheaton College in Wheaton, Ill. I started at Wheaton College in 2009 right before I graduated from the University of Florida with my Ph.D. in marketing. What brought you to LSU?After spending several years focused primarily on my teaching, I was eager to return to an institution where I could invest time and effort into my research as well. Given the excellent reputation of LSU and the E. J. Ourso College of Business, I jumped at the opportunity to join the faculty when a position was made available. Also, as a Florida native, a return to mild winters and SEC football was a big plus. What is your research interest?Broadly speaking, I am interested in the role of new media in marketing. As media technology becomes increasingly interactive, the way we consume media (e.g., TV programming, web content, video games) is continually evolving. One of my current projects, for example, examines the way in which consumers “inhabit” the virtual worlds created by different types of media as a means of escaping daily life. What do you hope to accomplish at LSU?In the classroom, I hope to get students excited about marketing as a rich, multi-disciplinary field of study. I enjoy challenging students to think critically and creatively as they engage real-world marketing issues. As a scholar, I hope to produce research that positively impacts my discipline and further advances the reputation of the university. What do you enjoy most about LSU?I enjoy the people I interact with every day. From my amazing colleagues to my top-notch students, I feel privileged to be a faculty member at LSU.What are your major accomplishments?Having just started my career as an academic, I hesitate to ascribe the label of “major accomplishment” to anything I’ve done so far. That being said, I recently had a paper published in one of our top-tier journals, and I will be presenting my current work at several major conferences this year.
