LSU is an equal
LSU Today Flagship Faculty
What was your previous position and where?I came to LSU in 2002 right after completing my Ph.D. at Florida State University. I spent the last year of my doctoral studies as a visiting assistant professor at the University of South Florida's School of Library and Information Science.
What brought you to LSU?LSU was and is highly regarded in my field, e.g. one of my colleagues was at that time the editor-in-chief of the premier journal in my field.
What are your research interests? My research areas include human computer interaction; knowledge sharing; and information behaviors in virtual organizations .
What do you hope to accomplish at LSU?Foremost, I hope to continue my research on human information behaviors in fast changing environments of information technology. I currently collaborate with colleagues at national universities such as Rutgers or the University of Wisconsin. I plan to broaden this emphasis on research collaborations to include colleagues at international universities.
What do you enjoy most about LSU?I like the interactions with the students at SLIS who come in with a very diverse background. Some are lawyers, musicians or chemists and want to further their education. I also value the opportunities for collaborations with other disciplines, e.g. with computer science or ISDS in the College of Business. Having a competitive football team at LSU also helps to enjoy my time here.
What are your major accomplishments?I was recently appointed as managing editor of the Journal of Information & Knowledge Management, an international journal that also values industrial ties. Moreover, I was selected to co-chair the 76th annual conference of the American Society for Information Science & Technology in 2013 in Montreal, Canada.
