What was your previous position and where?Assistant Professor in the Department of Civil Engineering and Construction Management at Bradley University.What brought you to LSU?I joined LSU to aggressively pursue research while enjoying teaching and student interaction.What is your research interest?Sustainable materials and design, life cycle assessmentWhat do you hope to accomplish at LSU?I hope to build a strong teaching and research program in sustainability within the construction management department and the College of Engineering.What do you enjoy most about LSU?A lot of things: the collaborative environment, interaction with students, support and help from the department’s mentors especially our chair Thomas Ray, and of course the unique architecture of the campus and the trees.What are your major accomplishments?1) Holder of the Performance Contractors Professorship from 2008-10; 2) Architectural Research Centers Consortium King Medal from 2003-04; 3) Member of a number of professional societies including the American Society of Civil Engineers, the American Solar Energy Society and the American Society of Heating, Refrigerating and Air-Conditioning Engineers; 4) Serve on professional national committees including the Emerging Technologies for Design and Construction Committee of the Transportation Research Board from 2004-present; 5) Member of Sigma Lambda Chi Beta Chapter Honorary Society in Construction from 2002 – present; 6) Developed three new courses on sustainability - one graduate and two undergraduate courses. These courses will be part of the new sustainability minor that the college of engineering will offer; 7) Was awarded a number of research projects; 8) Have more than 10 journal publications, 16 refereed conference publications and was an invited speaker at the 2009 Louisiana transportation conference; 9) Authored a book chapter; and 10) Serve as a reviewer for a number of scientific journals.
