What was your previous position and where?I was previously an assistant professor at the University of Texas Medical Branch at Galveston. What brought you to LSU?I came to LSU because of the research excellence of the university and the remarkable research support offered to new faculty by the Department of Pathobiological Sciences in the School of Veterinary Medicine. What is your research interest? My research interests include the study of the immune response to human respiratory viruses and how these viral infections subvert the antiviral immunity in the infected host. What do you hope to accomplish at LSU?I look forward to strengthening my curriculum as a scientist and sharing the acquired knowledge to students and fellows trained in my research program. Moreover, I hope that the outcome of our research work will help to develop new strategies to boost antiviral immunity for long-lasting protection against respiratory viral pathogens that cause significant airway morbidity. What do you enjoy most about LSU?Every day, I enjoy coming to work on my research projects and interacting with colleagues, students and post-docs. I greatly value the diversity in people and disciplines we can find on our beautiful campus. What are your major accomplishments? My greatest accomplishments include becoming an independent investigator with continuous extramural funding support and publishing in peer-reviewed publications, but, most of all, becoming part of that still small group of women in science.
