What was your previous position and where?Assistant research scientist at the University of Iowa.What brought you to LSU?LSU provided me the opportunity to serve as a tenure track faculty position. I also felt that I would receive strong support from the faculty in the department when I interviewed. At the same time, LSU also provided me the laboratory space, infrastructure and sophisticated equipment that is used toward furthering my research program.What do you hope to accomplish at LSU?My goal is to establish a nationally and internationally recognized research program in cardiovascular pathophysiology at LSU. In addition, I would like to obtain funds from national agencies to support my research program and mentor quality doctoral students in cardiovascular research. I would also like to provide a strong foundation in cardiovascular physiology for the D.V.M. students.What are your major accomplishments?Since joining LSU in the summer of 2003, I have been successful in obtaining funding from the National Institute of Health and Louisiana Board of Regents. My teaching ability and research accomplishment led to my tenure and promotion to the rank of associate professor in 2007. Our research is being recognized by the American Heart Association, and we have been invited to present several of our findings at its annual scientific sessions for the past four years.
