LSU Today Flagship Faculty

Judith Folse

Judith Anne Garretson Folse

V. Price LeBlanc Developing Scholar Professor in Marketing
Department of Marketing
E. J. Ourso College of Business

What was your previous position and where?

I earned my doctorate at the University of Arkansas in 2000 and joined the faculty here that fall. Prior to my doctoral studies, I was an instructor at Buena Vista University for four years. I also worked for a promotion agency as an account manager.

What brought you to LSU?

Honestly, the faculty members in my department were instrumental in my decision. The LSU marketing department is recognized for scholarly research, but it is also known for its collegiality. I experienced that friendliness when I visited LSU for my interview, and I knew I wanted to be a part of this group. We really do feel we are fortunate to research and teach in an environment where our colleagues become our co-authors and our friends. I was also impressed with our doctoral program in marketing. I knew the opportunity to mentor and collaborate on research with Ph.D. students would be rewarding.

What do you hope to accomplish at LSU?

My goal is to be a valuable colleague who participates in the mentoring of undergraduate and graduate students and contributes to scholarly research. I also hope to impress upon others that LSU is a remarkable institution. Our undergraduate and graduate students are talented, and our faculty members produce scholarly research and offer students opportunities to engage in real-world projects.

What are your major accomplishments?

I am the first person on both sides of my family who went to college, let alone who earned a doctorate degree.
