LSU is an equal
LSU Today Flagship Faculty
What was your previous position and where?I was a professor in the University of Houston System.
What brought you to LSU?My husband was transferred to Baton Rouge. After commuting back and forth for a couple of years, I accepted a full-time position at LSU.
What is your research interest? My research focuses on the social and emotional development of highly talented individuals. Iím particularly interested in longitudinal studies of the gifted, and in articulating the developmental trajectory of talent.
What do you hope to accomplish at LSU?Since this is my 36th year in higher education, itís more about focusing my work on projects that I most want to accomplish before retirement.
What do you enjoy most about LSU?In spite of LSUís size, I have had incredible opportunities to work with colleagues from across campus in interdisciplinary programs, on task forces and committees, and in administrative roles. I treasure those friendships and interactions.
What are your major accomplishments? As someone who has prepared K-12 teachers of the gifted at LSU for more than 20 years, I can walk into a local school offering gifted programs and see the fruits of my labor. On a recent visit to such a school, I realized that three-fourths of the teachers had received their masterís degrees with me.
