What was your previous position and where?I was an assistant professor at Marshall University.
What brought you to LSU?I came to LSU for the chance to build the sport management program.
What is your research interest?My research interests include sport and social capital, the role of social institutions in anchoring social capital and community identity within community networks and in community development, the impact of intercollegiate athletics success on organizational environment, and gender and race issues in intercollegiate athletics.
What do you hope to accomplish at LSU?I hope to grow the LSU sport management program to national prominence from the undergraduate to the doctoral level; create a center that serves as the nexus for sport and community development for researchers, educators and practitioners; and leave a lasting impact upon East Baton Rouge Parish and the state of Louisiana.
What do you enjoy most about LSU?I most enjoy the unique regional culture, the pride of the LSU community and the opportunity to make a difference.
What are your major accomplishments?My major accomplishments include being a leading expert on college sport and social capital, being named as a faculty affiliate to the College Sport Research Institute, being appointed as an editorial board member for the Journal for the Study of Sport and Athletes in Education, being elected chair of the LSU Kinesiology Advisory Council, being chosen as a John W. Barton Community Fellow of East Baton Rouge and being appointed by the governor to the Louisiana Serve Commission.
