What is your research interest?My main research interest is on empirical financial accounting research. I am interested in investigating the usefulness of accounting numbers from the fundamental evaluation point of view as well as if and how the capital-market participants find the accounting numbers useful. My empirical findings shall help accounting standards-setters in setting the accounting standards, should help managers in making their accounting choices and should help investors in valuing firms using accounting information. Working with various co-authors, I also extend my research to the area of auditing, institutional ownership and corporate governance.What do you hope to accomplish at LSU?I hope to be able to work with many of the research faculty members to educate our Ph.D. students into high-quality researchers and be able to place them in top-research schools. At the same time, I hope to enhance the research activities in the department through formal and informal exchanges of ideas. I hope to do whatever I can to help our faculty members to publish in top-quality journals.What are your major accomplishments?I initiated weekly internal workshops so faculty members can exchange ideas and learn from each other. I presented my paper in front of the International Accounting Standards Board in London, which helps promote the name of LSU. I believe it is important to set up a research atmosphere in the department and at the same time promote the name of LSU.
