What was your previous position and where?I came to LSU right after graduating from Purdue University with my Ph.D. in May 1985.What brought you to LSU?I was interviewed by two departments for a tenure-track position: computer science and quantitative business analysis (now ISDS). LSU was the only university offering such an opportunity. What is your research interest? My research interests are global entrepreneurship for students and small/medium-sized businesses. What do you hope to accomplish at LSU?Since there is a need for small/medium-sized businesses to go global, there is also a need for students to go global, the “Flying High, Landing Soft” curriculum of global entrepreneurship is a merger of these two concepts. The curriculum serves as a platform of cultivating talented people for the soft landings companies by linking LSU students at various levels — undergraduate, graduate and executive education — with business communities, including incubators and innovation parks, engaged in the soft landings program. The curriculum enables the soft landings companies to reduce risks and costs, find business opportunities and identify talented people for its new business ventures. What do you enjoy most about LSU?The culture of entrepreneurship. What are your major accomplishments?Being able to cultivate storytellers via the “Flying High, Landing Soft” curriculum of global entrepreneurship.
