What was your previous position and where?I was the director of the Leiden University Crisis Research Center in the Netherlands.What brought you to LSU?The opportunity to help build an important research center, and the ambitions of LSU to become a premier university in the nation.What is your research interest?I am interested in the effectiveness of crisis and disaster management, the development and effects of institutions and the role leadership plays in all this.What do you hope to accomplish at LSU?My aim is to build the Stephenson Disaster Management Institute into an internationally recognized research center in the field of crisis and disaster management. This center should generate research that helps build better response systems that will save lives.What do you enjoy most about LSU?The campus is beautiful, I have wonderful colleagues and I love the weather. What I enjoy most, however, is LSU’s ambition to become a top university. LSU has the potential to become an academic powerhouse and it is great to be a part of that effort.What are your major accomplishments?My daughters Charlotte and Desanne.
