"A Do for Dutton" set by Rural Life Museum

The docents of LSU's Rural Life Museum and friends of museum conservator John Dutton will host "A Do for Dutton" from 1 to 5 p.m. May 3 at the Burden Conference Center on Essen Lane.

The event is a fund raiser to assist the Dutton family with the medical expenses related to John Dutton's recent illness.

The festivities will include a jambalaya dinner catered by Dillon-Poche Catering and a silent auction that will include a weekend at a bed and breakfast, 100 daffodils planted for the winner, restaurant gift certificates, Beanie Babies, sports equipment, a framed photo of the moon over LSU by Jim Zeitz, a portrait of Steele Burden by Zeitz, groceries and wine, an original David Norwood drawing and azaleas named in honor of Ione Burden, Steele Burden and Windrush, the Burden family's home located on the Burden property.

At 4 p.m., a live auction - with Advocate columnist Smiley Anders serving as auctioneer - will offer two paintings and two clay sculptures by Steele Burden, as well as a sculpture by Emerson Bell, an original watercolor by John Desmond, a plaster casting of Madonna of the Stairs by Deborah Luke, a Don Wright painting of jazz musicians and a stay in a beach condominium in Destin, Fla.

Admission is a $5 donation. Any donations over $200 may be written to Our Lady of the Lake Foundation, John Dutton Fund, and sent to 5000 Hennessy Blvd., Baton Rouge, LA 70808.
