LSU Honors Tiger Twelve Class of 2013

Twelve outstanding LSU seniors were recently recognized as the Tiger Twelve Class of 2013. The award recognizes current, full-time students, who are seniors, have a cumulative GPA of at least a 2.5, and have best demonstrated the seven basic principles outlined in LSU's Commitment to Community, a statement of the mutually agreed upon expectations for each LSU community member established by students, faculty and staff in 1995.

LSU's Student Paper Named Nation's Best by Society of Professional Journalists

LSU's student newspaper, The Daily Reveille, has been honored as the nation's best all-around student newspaper by the Society of Professional Journalists at its recent Mark of Excellence, or MOE, Awards banquet in Indianapolis.

LSU Partners with BRCC for STEM Success

In today's job market, the number of non-traditional students looking for an advanced degree to attain higher paying jobs has increased dramatically. Baton Rouge Community College and LSU's College of Engineering, through a $2.25 million five-year National Science Foundation grant, have developed a solution to address the need for more engineers in the workforce and an increased student interest in an obtaining engineering degree.

LSU Graduate Research Assistant Wins Forest Products Society Competition

Jinquan Han, a graduate research assistant working with Qinglin Wu in the Louisiana Forest Products Development Center in the LSU AgCenter, was selected as the first place winner in the 2013 Forest Products Society, or FPS, Wood Award competition for his paper, "Self-Assembling Behavior of Cellulose Nanoparticles During Freeze Drying: Effect of Suspension Concentration, Particle Size, and Crystal Structure." The Wood Award is intended to recognize and honor outstanding research conducted by graduate students in the field of wood and wood products. The Wood Award is the most prestigious FPS award in the area of graduate research in wood and wood products.
