A 1909, Standard Oil of Louisiana pioneered a great enterprise in Baton Rouge, a refinery that was built by hundreds of local workers and supported by the community. Thus began a series of incredible partnerships inextricably connecting our company with the people of Louisiana. One of our first partners was Louisiana State University.
After a century of working together, ExxonMobil Baton Rouge has grown to a world-scale petrochemical complex. And we are proud to join with LSU in celebrating 150 years of educational excellence. As cornerstones of our state's economy with a shared goal to providing learning and career opportunities for our youth, the partnership between LSU and ExxonMobil remains strong.
Celebrate
Throughout LSU's 150th anniversary celebration, we plan to commemorate the longtime relationship between LSU and ExxonMobil through the many sesquicentennial activities. Our employees will attend anniversary events to share how our company is preparing to meet the growing demands for energy worldwide. And our employees will explain how we're integrating research and technology to protect the environment today and tomorrow. Also, our employee volunteer teams will be an energetic force at LSU Day event by providing interactive, hands-on science learning experiences.
