Building an American Renaissance

January 1, 2010-January 1, 2011—The museum exhibition "LSU: Building an American Renaissance" documents the work of LSU architecture professor J. Michael Desmond, along with fellow professors and students, in assessing the history of LSU's architecture, focusing on the campus' original eighteen buildings. The exhibit outlines LSU's beginnings as the Louisiana State Seminary for Learning in Pineville through its relocation to the Pentagon Barracks in downtown Baton Rouge and the move to its current location. LSU Serves the World

January 1, 2010—The "LSU Serves the World" Web site will showcase the many ways LSU has used its considerable reach to improve the lives of people around the world, reflecting on 150 years of service and celebrating the numerous projects in which Tigers young and old are engaged.The site will serve as an archive of projects LSU students and faculty have undertaken to give back to the global community and will give people currently participating in such ventures an opportunity to tell their story. LSU Documentary Forever LSU

Louisiana State University, in conjunction with Louisiana Public Broadcasting, has produced Forever LSU, a one-hour-long documentary that traces LSU's origins from the 1860 Pineville campus to the world-renowned educational institution it is today. The documentary, co-produced by LPB's Tika Laudun, is a journey through the history of our great institution, touching on the good, the bad, and the hilarious. LSU Chancellor's Day Parade

March 18, 2010—The Chancellor's Day Parade takes place on the Parade Ground at the LSU War Memorial. This is an opportunity for the Chancellor to re-assert the University's commitment to a military presence at LSU and express support for ongoing efforts to strengthen the Corps of the Cadets. In addition, the Commandant of Cadets uses this event as the official Change of Command Ceremony when the new Corps Commander officially takes command of the LSU Corps of Cadets.

LSU Day

November 13, 2010—Louisiana State University will celebrate its sesquicentennial with "LSU Day." The University will open its doors to the public for a free, fun-filled day of exploration and discovery, highlighted by performing arts showcases, tours, and exhibitions showing off LSU's history in all its purple and gold glory. Staged in the heart of the LSU campus, including the Quadrangle and Parade Grounds, the day of events will highlight LSU's achievements in athletics, research, the arts, academics, and community outreach, and will provide a sneak peek of what this world-class institution has to come. LSU Spring Commencement

May 21, 2010—After 150 years and more than 350 semesters spent educating generations of outstanding students, Louisiana State University aims to pay homage to all of its former and future degree earners in a sesquicentennial celebration of academic excellence that celebrates the role everyone with ties to LSU has played in getting the University to the place it is today—the top tier of universities and colleges nationwide.

LSU Fall Fest

September 17, 2010—Held on the Friday before an LSU Tigers football game, Fall Fest features a food court, exhibition booths, performances by the Golden Band from Tigerland, and a welcome from the chancellor. The sesquicentennial Fall Fest will feature more performances, more booths and more food than ever before as LSU goes all out to infuse the campus with Tiger spirit.

Treasures of LSU Book Launch

Fall 2010—Treasures of LSU is a high-quality, large-format book that showcases many of the University's treasures and brings them to life through a series of interpretive essays and vibrant photographs. Published by LSU Press specifically for the sesquicentennial celebration, Treasures of LSU will be distributed and sold on the general retail market.

LSU Salutes

November 5, 2010—LSU Salutes is an opportunity for the "Ole War Skule" to recognize and honor all those who served with distinction in the Armed Forces of the United States of America, with special guests including all veterans and former and current cadets. By resolution of the LSU Board of Supervisors in March of 1998, LSU Salutes was established as an official University observance. It occurs each November on the Saturday of a home football game which falls nearest to Veteran's Day.

LSU Homecoming

November 8-13, 2010—LSU Homecoming is a time-honored tradition for alumni, students, and members of the Tiger community. Last year, the University celebrated 100 years of Homecoming and this year the celebration will take note of LSU's sesquicentennial. Homecoming is celebrated all week long with competitions, charity drives, parades, and is wrapped up with a home football game.
