11th Annual Groundwater, Surface Water, and Water Resources Symposium.
This past April 11 and 12 the Louisiana Geological Survey and the Louisiana Water Resources Research Institute hosted the 11 th annual Louisiana Groundwater, Surface Water, and Water Resources Symposium. It was a major success in that there was record number of presentations 43 and over 150 registered for this year’s symposium, which included an increase of in the number of professionals registered for the symposium, another record.
There were 36 oral presentations and 9 poster presentations this year. There were secessions on groundwater management, surface water management, water availability, groundwater quality, surface water quality, water modeling, and geomorphology resulting from river management. Papers were presented by faculty from many of Louisiana’s colleges and university as well those from the U.S. Geological Survey, Louisiana Geological Survey, and various Louisiana State Agencies and consultants. There were three sponsors that contributed to the symposium: C-K Associates Environmental Consultants, Atchafalaya National Heritage Area and Environmental Support Services. This symposium was a great opportunity for over sixty of registered Louisiana Professional Geoscientists to earn hundreds of continue education credits as required by the Louisiana Board of Professional Geoscientists to enhance their understanding of many geological and hydrogeological concerns pertinent for their careers.
