LA-STEM'S HOLISTIC APPROACH

LA-STEM offers multi-faceted training to our future STEM leaders and employs a holistic development learning approach to create high-quality students who will greatly contribute to the STEM community.

We challenge students to achieve the highest level of their potential in the areas of academics, community involvement, research, mentoring, and leadership.

 

SCHOLAR SPOTLIGHT

Stephanie Hicks, Ph.D.

Dr. Hicks is a LA-STEM Alumna, who recently received her Ph.D. in Statistics from Rice University. She will be completing a post-doctoral fellowship at Harvard School of Public Health. She plans to pursue a tenure-track faculty position after her post doc.

2013 BARRY M. GOLDWATER SCHOLARS

Corey Landy & Bruno Beltran

Corey conducted international research at imec in Leuven, Belgium last summer and fall through the Howard Hughes Medical Institute (HHMI) International Research Program and will be participating in a research program at Harvard University this summer.

Bruno is also a 2013 HHMI Exceptional Research Opportunities Program (HHMI EXROP) Scholar who will be conducting research at Yale University this summer.

2013 NSF GRADUATE RESEARCH FELLOW

Kameron Kilchrist (pictured to the left) joins seven LA-STEM Alumni as our most recent NSF Graduate Research Fellow. Kameron will attend Vanderbilt University to pursue his Ph.D. in biomedical engineering.
