Welcome to the
Louisiana Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics
(LA-STEM) Research Scholars Program

Funded by National Science Foundation and Research Corporation, the Louisiana Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics (LA-STEM) Research Scholars Program aims to promote diversity in the STEM disciplines by supporting the achievements of STEM undergraduates. The LA-STEM Scholarship is one of the most prestigious awards offered at LSU, valued at approximately $9,500 for the academic year in addition to paid participation in the OSI Summer Bridge Program, but LA-STEM involves much more than a scholarship. Students are mentored and supported through a family atmosphere as they learn to use academic enhancement tools that will increase their success at the undergraduate and graduate levels. They participate in undergraduate research, perform community service, and act as mentors: truly getting the most out of their college experiences as they prepare to pursue terminal (Ph.D.) degrees in the STEM disciplines. They join a diverse community of learners who understand that mentoring, education, and research can be the foundation for undergraduate and graduate achievement.

The links at the left will guide you to more information about the LA-STEM Research Scholars Program and application procedures, the Louisiana State University Office of Strategic Initiatives (OSI), and LA-STEM's partner program, the Howard Hughes Medical Institute (HHMI) Professors Program. Thank you for visiting the LA-STEM Research Scholars Program!
