Coastal Roots Seedling Nursery Program establishes wetland seedling nurseries at schools from within the coastal zone of Louisiana. Students from 4th grade through high school in south Louisiana are taking part in this project. Currently there are 18 schools in 10 parishes in south Louisiana that participate in the project. These nurseries are capable of producing native wetland plants for use in habitat restoration by the participating students. Students managing the nurseries oversee the entire growth cycle of the plants, from seed germination to the planting of the seedlings in the restoration programs during the fall semester.
