The Baton Rouge Metropolitan Airport (Ryan Field) is very small, and you will not have a hard time collecting your luggage as the baggage claim area is located downstairs and to the right.
The International Cultural Center (ICC) at LSU offers free transportation to campus from the Baton Rouge airport or Baton Rouge Greyhound bus station to new international students, and you can request this service by clicking here.
Note: The ICC does not have the capability to pick up students from the New Orleans airport or the New Orleans Greyhound bus station. However, you may consider Tiger Airport Shuttle, which is not affiliated with LSU.
If you did not contact the ICC in advance of your arrival, you can take a taxi from the airport or bus station, which is safe but expensive. Tell the taxi driver to take you to the International Cultural Center at LSU at 3365 Dalrymple Drive. Remember to allow for a 15% tip above the actual cost of the taxi.
There are many friendly people in Baton Rouge, but you need to be extremely careful of accepting offers for a ride or a place to stay from anyone without LSU identification or another reputable authority.
