Dr. Davis Named Distinguished Faculty

Dr. Davis Named Distinguished FacultyDr. Thompson E. Davis III was presented with the LSU Distinguished Faculty Award by President Alexander in a ceremony on May 3rd.  LSU Distinguished Faculty are recognized as being world-class professors for “sustained records of excellence in teaching, research, service, and/or any combination of the three.” 

Dr. Davis is an Associate Professor of Clinical Psychology and a licensed clinical psychologist. He is widely published in the areas of specific phobia and anxiety in children, and also has interest in the intersection of anxiety and autism. In addition, he serves as the Director of the Psychology Department's Psychological Services Center (outpatient training clinic).  He is on the editorial boards of the Journal of Anxiety Disorders, the Journal of Psychopathology and Behavioral Assessment, Behavior Therapy, and Clinical Child and Family Psychology Review.  Dr. Davis is also the senior editor and coauthor of two edited volumes, Intensive One-Session Treatment of Specific Phobias and the award-winning Handbook of Autism and Anxiety. Currently, he is working with colleagues in the United Kingdom on a 4-year, $2 million grant to investigate the ability of front-line practitioners to provide One-Session Treatment for specific phobias in children.
