Dr. Davis Receives $100,000 Economic Development Assistantship Award to Refine Treatments for Child Anxiety

Dr. Tom Davis III, Associate Professor of Psychology, received a competitive $100,000 Economic Development Assistantship (EDA) award from the Office of Research and Economic Development and the LSU Graduate School to recruit a strong graduate assistant to help further refine the psychological treatment of child anxiety disorders.  Dr. Davis is the author of numerous publications (including 2 books on anxiety).  He is in the clinical area of the Psychology Department where his research primarily investigates the causes and treatment of worry and fear in children—particularly brief therapies.  The four year award creates an opportunity for a graduate student to become immersed in Dr. Davis’ research and help him better understand the nature of anxiety in children and further develop brief treatments for childhood anxiety disorders.  For more information about this project, please email Dr. Davis.
