Classical Civilization Minors

The Latin Minor

Admission to the B.A. in Latin is currently suspended. Students currently enrolled in the program are permitted to complete the requirements for the degree. 

To obtain a minor in Latin, a student must take a minimum of 16 hours of instruction at the 2000 level and above. At least six hours must be taken at the 3000 level or above. Students of Humanities and Social Sciences may apply at least eight hours of the College’s language requirement to this minor. This minor is highly recommended for students majoring in Ancient History, Philosophy, or Religious Studies.

The Greek Minor

To obtain a minor in Greek, a student must have a minimum of 16 hours of instruction at the 2000 level and above. At least six hours must be taken at the 3000 level or above. Students of Humanities and Social Sciences may apply at least eight hours of the College’s language requirement to the minor. This minor is highly recommended for students majoring in Ancient History, Philosophy, or Religious Studies.

The Classical Civilization Minor

A minimum of 16 credit hours of approved courses is needed to obtain a minor in Classical Civilization. No more than six hours may be taken outside the department. At least six hours must be at the 3000 level or above. Any 2000 level or above course in Greek, Latin, or classical studies may count toward the minor, with the exception of CLST 2092. Courses outside the department which may count toward the minor are ART 4404, 4409, 4410; HIST 2001, 2002, 4001, 4003, 4004, 4105; PHIL 2033, 2034, 4922, 4924 and POLI 4081. Students may also apply three hours of credit to the minor by taking Honors 1001-1003.
