During his talk, Martin discussed the top three things he wants to address
as chancellor: continuing to build programs that bring the university national
and international recognition; growing LSU’s enrollment without lowering

Bill Conti Returns to LSU
About 50 years ago, a high school student in Miami, Florida, was looking
for a place to attend college. After talking to his orchestra teacher at
North Miami Senior High, she suggested that if he learn the bassoon, she
could help him get a scholarship to Louisiana State University.
Restoring Roots
LSU College of Education's Coastal Roots Program and its various partners
is aimed at engaging hundreds of school-aged children in actively working
toward the restoration of Louisiana's coast and marshes and to address the
state's coastal needs.

Union Galley exhibit displays concert photographs taken between 1969 and
1999. The 75-piece exhibit is a study of Rock and Roll through the eyes
of photographer Larry Hulst.
Fishing for Answers
LSU and Sea Grant researchers are engaged in a series of ongoing projects
to gain a better understanding of the actual size of the red snapper population
and its reaction to different environmental changes.

Reaching Higher
LSU is using new recruiting initiatives to attract students with higher
ACT scores, enroll more diverse students, and compete successfully against
universities in other SEC states.

The beloved students from East High have bombarded Reilly Theatre in LSU’s
Swine Palace Production of High School Musical. While the story and theme
are consistent with Disney’s TV movie, the characters are played by
actors, actresses, singers and dancers from LSU and the Baton Rouge area.
