2004 LSU Commencement

In front of a packed house in LSU's Pete Maravich Assembly Center, President George W. Bush delivered the address at LSU's 253rd commencement ceremonies.

After an introduction from LSU Chancellor Mark A. Emmert, President Bush entered the arena to a standing ovation. Following the invocation and the singing of the national anthem, Chancellor Emmert and LSU System President William L. Jenkins presented the president with an honorary doctor of science degree. In his speech, the President offered his advice and encouragement to the graduates and paid tribute to several LSU graduates who had served in Operation Iraqi Freedom.

Some 3,162 students had degrees conferred upon them at the ceremony.
