Saundra McGuire Receives the McBay Outstanding Teacher Award Saundra McGuire, director of LSU’s Center for Academic Success, associate dean of University College, and adjunct professor of chemistry, received the 2002 Dr. Henry C. McBay Outstanding Teacher Award from the National Organization for the Professional Advancement of Black Chemists and Chemical Engineers. The award recognizes outstanding contributions in the area of chemical education. Prior to her arrival at LSU in 1999, McGuire held faculty positions at the University of Tennessee, Alabama A&M University, and Cornell University, where she received the 1991 Clark Distinguished Teaching Award. McGuire has served as head of the Center for Academic Success since 1999. She has been a successful motivator by helping students understand how chemical concepts are relevant to the careers they are pursuing. Last updated September 2002
