LSU Track and Field The LSU women’s track and field team recently won their ninth NCAA Indoor Track title and will attempt to win their 13th NCAA outdoor title, while the men try to win their fourth outdoor championship. The competition might be a little easier this year, as the Tigers will compete on their own track. LSU welcomes the finest track and field athletes in the country to Baton Rouge for the fourth time in school history. Bernie Moore Track Stadium will serve as the host site for the 2002 NCAA Division 1 Track and Field Championships, May 29–June 1. This year’s competition marks the first time in 15 years that LSU has hosted the event. A $1 million capital outlay has been devoted to upgrade the track facility by improving lighting, renovating the press box, adding seating along the east side, and building a new weight room and training facility for the athletes.
