| Law Center Joint Degree
program one of two in the Western Hemisphere
The LSU Paul M. Hebert Law Center has established a joint-degree program
in which graduates will simultaneously receive juris doctorate and bachelor
of civil law degrees. The joint-degree program is one of two joint-degree
law programs in the Western Hemisphere. Entering LSU Hebert Law Center
freshmen are automatically enrolled in the program, which teaches the
legal skills to practice law on a global scale. The new program offers
the full experience of common and civil law theories, allowing its graduates
to practice both inside and outside of the United States.
The joint degree program is designed to strengthen the Law Center's leadership
role as a curator of the Louisiana Civil Code, extend recognition to the
Law Center graduates, and position the Law Center as a leader among American
law schools in the globalization of its curriculum.
