LSU Mourns

A Time to Mourn

LSU students, faculty, and staff, as well as members of the local community, gathered together throughout the week following the tragedies in New York City, Washington, D.C., and Pennsylvania. Thousands gathered for an ecumenical memorial service held at Memorial Tower September 14, the day President George W. Bush declared a "National Day of Prayer and Remembrance."

Many of those attending the memorial service proudly wore red, white, and blue and carried American flags. Speakers were Chancellor Mark Emmert, Student Body President Patrick McCune, and the Reverend Patrick Smith of St. Alban's Episcopal Church.
