LSU's senior quarterback Rohan Davey was one of 11 NCAA Division 1-A
players named to the 2001 American Football Coaches Association Good Works
Team. The team honors players for their dedication and commitment to community
service. An LSU team captain for the second straight year, Davey volunteers
regularly at local elementary and middle schools through the LSU CHAMPS
program and serves on a panel to discuss issues such as violence and drugs
with local students. CHAMPS was developed by the NCAA to help prepare
student-athletes for the challenges of life by emphasizing volunteer service
and community involvement. Davey, a senior in mass communication, was
also awarded the Eric Andolsek Leadership Award last spring and the Peach
Bowl's Most Outstanding Offensive Player in 2000.
