Preparing for Crises

The LSU Fire & Emergency Training Institute is rated among the top university-based fire service training programs in the country. The institute offers nearly 1,000 courses per year to more than 20,000 emergency responders in Louisiana and nationwide, teaching them how to save lives and property. The institute provides training to municipal, industrial, and rescue personnel responding to emergencies such as hazardous materials releases, rescuing severe trauma victims, and airport rescue and fire fighting. The training helps municipal fire departments improve fire ratings, which reduces the cost of fire and home insurance premiums for homeowners and communities throughout Louisiana.
