The Bachelor of Arts in Liberal Arts enables students in the College of Humanities & Social Sciences to become broadly educated in the liberal arts, while satisfying the requirements for specialized areas of concentration. Specific courses required for completion of the FMA concentration are listed below.


Film and Media Arts (33 hours)


Required core courses: FMA 2001; FMA 3001; FMA 4001.


In addition to the nine hours of required core courses, 24 hours of electives must be completed, with at least two courses (6 hours) required from each of two subject areas:  History, Theory/Practice.  Only 12 hours of courses numbered below the 3000-level will count toward the degree.

Courses from participating departments that are relevant to FMA may be counted towards the concentration requirements with prior approval from the Program Director. Students seeking the minor in Film and Media Arts must complete:


FMA 2001:  Introduction to film and media arts


15 additional hours of electives chosen from regular electives and/or special course offerings--see current offerings list


At least 9 hours of electives must be at the 3000 level or higher


No more than 9 hours may be taken in a single department
