A: It is LSU’s plan to become a more nationally competitive university by the year 2010. No student or faculty member should have to leave Louisiana in search of a better education or opportunity.

Q: What have the key successes been?
A: Steadily improving freshman class, graduate and undergraduates receiving more national awards, acquisition of a research park with research laboratory space for expansion, adoption of new math education plan, the initiation of the Forever LSU capital campaign, and the 2006 and 2007 legislative sessions supplying more money for faculty and students.

Q: How does LSU fare in research?
A: Last year, LSU faculty and staff won grants and contracts amounting to $146.4 million. This is the fifth consecutive year of increases.

Q: How much has the Forever LSU campaign raised?
A: $373.9 million as of August 31, 2007. The goal is $750 million by 2010.

Q: What has the state done to help LSU?
A: In the 2007 Regular Session of the Legislature, the government approved $38 million in operating funds for LSU plus money to repair critical research infrastructure.
