LSU
awards scholarships in the form of cash awards, tuition and
nonresident fee exemptions, room and board scholarships, and
employment opportunities to students meeting certain
academic
qualifications. Most of the scholarship programs are
competitive and are awarded based on the following two
components:
-
A six-semester, weighted high-school GPA. The GPA
used for scholarship consideration is calculated based on the
core courses required for admission to LSU. Please note this
GPA may differ from the GPA listed on the high-school
transcript. The GPA is weighted meaning additional weight is
given to courses designated as Honors, AP, or IB.
Additionally, students are considered for Louisiana resident
scholarships or non-Louisiana resident scholarships based on the
residency designation provided by the
Office
of Undergraduate Admissions. Louisiana residents
meeting LSU entering freshmen scholarship criteria will likely
also qualify for tuition assistance through Louisiana’s Tuition
Opportunity Program for Students (TOPS).
Some
colleges offer departmental scholarships to entering freshmen.
The Office of Undergraduate Admissions and Student Aid encourages students to
contact the department of their intended major for information.
