Black
Women's Health. Although African American women are of
course subject to the same diseases as the rest of society, there are some
that seem to affect them more as a group. Some of the reasons for this are
cultural, some are biological, but many are behavioral. For example, although
an African American woman might not be biologically more inclined to get sick
than a woman of another race, she tends to be so busy taking care of everyone
else that she neglects her own health. Because many African American women do
not get enough medical checkups, by the time they do get to the doctor they
come in sicker and die more quickly than they should. |
