Specifications for Submitting the Resume and Cover Letter Assignment
07/29/2009
Because it's not easy on me when I receive several (over a hundred sometimes)
attachment files in one day, it is imperative that you religiously follow the
specifications below. People not following these
specifications will be docked one letter grade on this assignment.
- All of your work must be in one file (and not several files within one
folder). Do not send me multiple files. This just makes my life
difficult in that there are still more files I must account for. Use the page
break function on Word to separate your letter from your cover letter and resume from the brief
information at the end that describes the job your applying for and includes
the relevant url and source code from the Occupational Outlook Handbook and
the Dictionary of Occupational
Titles. It is extremely important that you insert a page break in
between the three parts of this assignment. I need to see that your resume
fills one full page.
- Also, your documents must be in the following order: 1)
cover
letter, 2) resume, 3)
job memo containing the relevant url and source code from
the Occupational Outlook Handbook and
the Dictionary of Occupational
Titles.
- Name your file in the following way: yourlastname_resume. For
example, Joe Blow would send a file titled blow_resume. If you have a
particularly common last name (i.e. Smith, Jones, Johnson), you may use your
first name too. In that case, label your file in the following way:
yourlastnameyourfirstname_resume. For example, Janice Smith would name
her file in the following way: smithjanice_resume.
Following these directions will make it easier for me to manage a large
number of files and ensure that your work won't get lost in the shuffle or
overwritten by someone else's document with the same file name.
