While the basic information is present in this letter, it is not organized effectively. Also, it doesn't sell readers on the improvements. It lacks sufficient detail. Readers should be excited about these changes, but there is very little reason for such enthusiasm. Finally, the letter is marred by some awkward and wordy phrasing.

Causeway Apartments 15 April 2004 Jacob Smith Dear Mr. Smith This letter is to inform you of the rent increase. The increase will be $40 a month. Yes, the increase is also for current residents renewing their lease. The reason for the rise in rent is the additions to Causeway Apartments. The improvements will consist the following:
The increase, however, will not take place until the new lease begins on August 15, 2004. The construction for these improvements will start on September 1, 2004.
