What we work on in the lab:
The Battista lab focuses on a variety of different aspects in microbiology. The study of naturally occuring ionizing radiation resistance in prokaryotes, especially among members of the bacterial genus Deinococcus. Most of our work focuses on the species Deinococcus radiodurans. The Battista lab has changed focuses in more recent years to include developing new ways of improving current metagenomic techniques.
