Members of the SLP lab learn the importance of building a strong intellectual community; engaging in critical, analytical thinking; and learning about the field of spoken language processing in people of all ages with all levels of hearing. The students in our lab are actively involved in all forms of the research process—from hands-on experimental design and execution to thoughtful literature reviews.
Brittan Barker is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Communication Sciences and Disorders at Louisiana State University. She directs the Spoken Language Processing Lab. She loves meeting families and professionals in the community who help her learn about spoken language and listening. Although Brittan grew up in Lafayette, she spent 10 years in Iowa before heading back south. There she gained valuable experience in the laboratory and the clinic working on the Children’s Cochlear Implant team at the University of Iowa. Needless to say, Brittan loves being in Louisiana where the weather is warm and the food is spicy!
Rachelle Eugster grew up in Lafayette, LA before moving to Madison, WI at 16 years old. She received a B.S. in Speech-Language Pathology from Marquette University and is currently pursuing a Master’s Degree in Speech-Language Pathology at LSU. Additionally, she is currently working as the lab manager of the Spoken Language Processing Lab along with serving as the Research Assistant on the toddler BoR grant.
Isabelle Tabor grew up in Houma, LA. Izzy completed her B.A. degree with us in the Department of Communication Sciences and Disorders at Louisiana State University; Izzy is now completing her M.A. degree with us and ultimately plans to specialize in Pediatric Speech-Langauge Pathology.
Chelsi Gibbons Chelsi Gibbons is from Shreveport, LA. She earned a B.A. in Pre-Professional Speech-Language Pathology in 2011 from Louisiana Tech University. She is currently a second-year graduate student pursuing a Master's degree in Speech-Language Pathology at LSU and working on a thesis under Dr. Barker. Because of her love with children, she plans on specializing in Pediatric Speech-Language Pathology after graduation.
Megan Arcana is from New Orleans and completed her undergraduate degree in our department. Megan is currently working on her M.A. degree in Speech-Language Pathology and is very interested in ultimately pursuing a clinical research career.
Kelly Oser grew up in Chalmette, LA and is a Psychology major at Louisiana State University. Kelly plans to pursue her Master's of Social Work degree upon graduation from LSU.
Margaret Justice is a Communication Sciences and Disorders major at Louisiana State University. Maggie plans to attend grad school and pursue a career in speech-language pathology.
Andrea Vargas grew up in Lake Jackson, TX, and is studying Communication Sciences and Disorders at Louisiana State University. She hopes to continue on to graduate school and pursue a career in Speech-Language Pathology. Andrea is currently a member of LSU Ambassadors, and is an officer for the LSU chapter of NSSLHA.
Brianne Thibodeaux is studying Communication Sciences and Disorders at Louisiana State University. She hopes to continue on to graduate school in Fall of 2014 and pursue a career in Speech-Language Pathology. Brianne is actively involved with LSU's Communication Across the Curriculum program and working toward becoming an LSU Distinguished Communicator.
Jennifer Ladmirault is a Communication Sciences and Disorders major at Louisiana State University and a Baton Rouge native. It is her goal to become a Speech-Language Pathologist.
