Meet the LSU Spoken Language Processing Lab

Brittan Barker is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Communication Sciences and Disorders at Louisiana State University. She directs the Spoken Language Processing Lab. She loves meeting families and professionals in the community who help her learn about spoken language and listening. Although Brittan grew up in Lafayette, she spent 10 years in Iowa before heading back south. There she gained valuable experience in the laboratory and the clinic working on the Children’s Cochlear Implant team at the University of Iowa. Needless to say, Brittan loves being in Louisiana where the weather is warm and the food is spicy!

Annie Schubert grew up in Northville, MI and attended the University of Michigan where she completed her undergraduate degree in Linguistics. With a special interest in speech perception, Annie is currently pursuing her Master's Degree in Speech-Language Pathology here at LSU. Additionally, she is currently working as the lab manager of the Spoken Language Processing Lab along with serving as the Research Assistant on the toddler BoR grant. Annie is particularly interested in exploring the role of item analysis in test development for children who are deaf and use cochlear implants. Ultimately, Annie plans to work as a pediatric Speech-Language Pathologist specializing in birth-3 swallowing and feeding disorders.

Baby Rachelle

Rachelle Eugster grew up in Lafayette, LA before moving to Madison, WI at 16 years old. She received a B.S. in Speech-Language Pathology from Marquette University and is currently pursuing a Master’s Degree in Speech-Language Pathology at LSU. Rachelle is particularly interested in language development and pediatric speech perception.

Baby Katrina

Katrina Cochoff is a current COMD graduate student at LSU. She earned her B.A. degree in Psychology from Eastern University, which is located in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. Therefore, being new to both Baton Rouge and the field of Speech Pathology, she looks forward to the many opportunities and lessons which the graduate program holds in the near future.

Isabelle Tabor grew up in Houma, LA. Izzy is a recent graduate of the Department of Communication Sciences and Disorders at Louisiana State University. Izzy is non-matriculating, but continuing to take graduate-level classes in Speech-Langauge Pathology and volunteer in the lab. Izzy will begin her M.A. degree in the fall and specialize in Pediatric Speech-Langauge Pathology.

Baby Kelly

Kelly Oser grew up in Chalmette, LA and is a Psychology major at Louisiana State University. Kelly plans to pursue her Master's of Social Work degree upon graduation from LSU.

Baby Lindsay

Lindsey Mancuso is a Communication Sciences and Disorders major who is currently pursuing her Distinguished Communicator Certification. Lindsay plans to attend graduate school in the fall and pursue a career in pediatric speech-langauge pathology.

Baby Maggie

Margaret Justice is a Communication Sciences and Disorders major at Louisiana State University. Maggie plans to attend grad school and pursue a career in speech pathology.

Baby Andrea

Andrea Vargas grew up in Lake Jackson, TX, and is studying Communication Sciences and Disorders at Louisiana State University. She hopes to continue on to graduate school and pursue a career in Speech and Language Pathology. Andrea is currently a member of LSU Ambassadors, and is a Senator in LSU Student Government.
