LSU received recognition from the College Board for academic excellence as a result of this program and its impact on Advanced Placement courses in Louisiana. Principal Investigator and Co-director with Carolyn Talton, National Science Foundation grant, Louisiana Middle School Mathematics Enhancement Program for Women and Minorities, $56,000, 1988-1989. Program designed to increase the interest of female and minority middle school students in math and science. PIs surveyed schools in Lincoln and East Baton Rouge Parish to determine focus and content of program. Master teachers of mathematics and science conducted workshops for Middle school teachers in both parishes. Principal Investigator and Co-director with Carolyn Talton, National Science Foundation grant, Louisiana Middle School Mathematics Enhancement Program for Women and Minorities, $100,000, 1989-1990. Second year of funding for program. Invited to present program results to grant recipients and administrators at national meeting of NSF.
