Industrial Engineering Students Present at OLOL

Two students posing with project board about sepsis managementBATON ROUGE – Three LSU Industrial Engineering senior capstone teams were recently invited to participate in Our Lady of the Lake Hospital’s Quality and Safety Day.

The teams were asked to present projects that demonstrated a systemic investigation designed to develop or contribute to generalizable knowledge; the use of current best evidence in clinical practice; and the application of the PDCA/Rapid Cycle Improvement, LEAN, or Six Sigma methodologies to improve performance.

Projects were displayed using poster presentations, which consisted of a research abstract, evidence-based practice project and a performance improvement project.

 

The teams were:

Bryce Adams of Houma, La.; Rafael Escalon of Baton Rouge; Maria Rodriguez of Baton Rouge; and Telvin Tansiel of Port Allen, La. – “Sepsis Management: Improving Blood Culture Collections.”
