Hjortso Receives 2010 Dean's Book Award

Dr. Martin A. Hjortso, professor in the Cain Department of Chemical Engineering, has received the 2010 Dean's Book Award. Hjortso, whose research interests focus on kinetics and dynamics of biological systems, was recognized for his book Linear Mathematical Models in Chemical Engineering.


The Dean's Book Award recognizes the importance of book writing as a faculty activity. Some criteria for winning include: the book must be written while the author is a member of LSU's College of Engineering, the book must be published by a recognized external publisher, in addition to other qualifications. A new autographed copy of the book is given to the Dean to be kept in the College's collection.
