Baton Rouge, La
Community Bound was a hit this year!
This was the largest Community Bound to date, breaking past participation records with over 520 students, faculty and staff!
Chancellor Michael Martin and Superintendent of the East Baton Rouge School District helped welcome the volunteers in Bo Campbell Auditorium in the morning. Volunteers were then taken to six local schools where they helped spruce up the campuses by painting the schools' interiors.
At the end of the day, the schools looked wonderful, the principals and teachers were ecstatic and the volunteers had made a difference!
Students also used the experience to forge new friendships. As busses unloaded back on campus, students were already making plans to meet up again with people they met during the day. It was a great start to a new year for so many students.
Volunteer LSU would like to thank all our participants, partners and the planning committee for helping make Community Bound 2011 such a success. We feel were happy that we got to share in one of your first experiences here at LSU...we look forward to seeing you all at our future Volunteer LSU events!
